You do not need to be our learner yet for us to take your safety seriously. If something is wrong at work, at home or online, the contacts on this page work today. And below them, our policies in plain English, with no legal fog.
Bullying at work, pressure that crosses a line, trouble at home, someone online who worries you, or a feeling you cannot quite name. All of it counts. None of it is too small.
[SAFEGUARDING LEAD NAME AND TITLE] leads safeguarding at TLC and hears concerns from learners, future learners, parents and employers. You can raise something about yourself or about someone else, and you can do it before you have signed anything.
Safeguarding messages get read first. We respond within one working day.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 now. For urgent worry about a child or young person, the NSPCC helpline offers free advice around the clock on 0808 800 5000. Adults can contact their local council’s adult safeguarding team, and we can help you find it.
999 in an emergency
Neither number needs you to be certain first. Worried is enough.
Every member of TLC staff is trained to spot signs of harm and knows exactly what to do about them. Our staff are vetted before they work with learners. Concerns go to the safeguarding lead the same day, and we work with employers, families and outside agencies when safety needs it. This covers physical and emotional harm, neglect, bullying including at work, online risks, and being drawn towards extremism.
What it means for you: one named person, one email address, and a promise that being believed comes first.
Tell anyone at TLC, in whatever words come, and it counts as a complaint. We acknowledge it within two working days, investigate it properly, and give you an answer with reasons. Complaining never affects how you are treated, marked or supported. That would be a safeguarding matter in itself.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can escalate above our heads to the Department for Education’s apprenticeship service. We will give you the exact route and contact details when you ask, because a complaints process you cannot escalate is not a real one.
Your age, race, sex, disability, religion, sexuality, gender identity, pregnancy or background change nothing about the teaching, support and respect you receive here. Where a disability or learning difference means you need adjustments, including in your final assessment, we make them. Discrimination from anyone, including an employer, gets acted on.
What it means for you: if you ever feel the deal on this page and the treatment you receive do not match, that is worth an email today.
Low weeks, money stress, caring pressures and wobbly confidence all affect learning, and all belong in the conversation. Your reviews ask about you, not just your coursework, and our learning-story tool lets you flag what a difficult day looks like before you even start, so support is ready rather than reactive.
You should never have to earn the right to be safe. It comes free, and it starts before your first day.
